So I'm thinking today is the day I'm going to offer up some motherly advice...I have lots of advice to choose from but today I'll keep it simple.
STROLLERS
Believe it or not, but I've seen this issue so many times its hard to keep count and I too am guilty. So here it is...Moms registering for strollers that don't fit in the back of the car!
I know we can all get caught up in the registry and everything that goes along with it, but this little piece of advice will save you time, money and some sanity.
When you are picking out the baby's stroller, make sure the stroller fits in the back of the car (I know some of you are thinking "well duh"), but this thought never crossed my mind.
Toys R Us/Babies R Us will let you take out the prospective stroller and/or car seat out to your car to see if it fits. When I was doing my registry I just assumed that everything would fit in my car. Sure I had a Honda Civic and it was a little small, but I moved countless times throughout college and that little car was always packed to the brim so why would I even think a stroller wouldn't fit?
So I'm sure you can guess, but my first attempt at going out with my child ended pretty quickly when I discovered that there was no way in hell the stroller was going to fit in the trunk and the only way I could put the stroller in the car was to move my baby's car seat out of the middle and put him behind the front passenger seat (as a new mommy there was no way that was going to happen).
To make a long story short, I went back to Babies and bought one of those metal frame snap and go strollers (which I love). I think I spent about $80.00 on the Snap N' Go and for my Chicco travel system I spent somewhere in the $300 range. If I had thought to at least take measurements or had taken the stroller out to my car I could have saved myself another $80. Sure that doesn't seem too much money but when you're spending money left and right on all the stuff you didn't get from your registry 80 bucks is a fortune.
So again, to save some trouble, money and sanity...make sure the stroller fits!
And I think its funny, some of you who are reading this may not take my advice and be in the same predicament, such as my sister in-law (who is now borrowing my Snap N' Go) and my friend Allison who thought her car was big enough.
