The Osaka Fusion House

In the mood for Sushi or Japanese cuisine? My newest favorite place in J-ville is the Osaka Fusion House. Its a relatively new place off of Western. I've been there about three times in the past week. I think its delicious and conveniently placed right outside the Tarawa Terrace II gate next to McDonald's, in the ghetto looking white building. They have a pretty wide variety of sushi and fair menu for the non sushi eaters such as myself.

So far, I've eaten the Edamame, and the Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box.  I think its pretty damn good and for a whopping $12 (the bento box) and its a steal.

This is what you get for the $12 Teriyaki Bento Box-you ready for this? 1. Miso soup-pretty good, can't complain with this soup. Good broth and not too much tofu.

 2. Salad with ginger dressing-I love ginger dressing and I can't get over how delicious it tastes. I do think there is a lot of dressing on the salad but I don't really mind as I love it! 3. The Bento box includes, a healthy portion of teriyaki chicken, 3 dumplings, a pile of white rice, two shrimp tempura and three vegetable tempura (might consist of sweet potato, carrot and broccoli). If you leave the table wanting more food, you're crazy. I love that I can't eat all food at one sitting. I love being able to take home the leftovers and although the tempura doesn't really hold up, the teriyaki flavors have time to mix and meld and taste that much better the next day.

My husband and friend have had the Steak Hibachi dinner and are pretty pleased. I guess one can compare it to Shoguns food but here its so much better.

I probably need to eat more than the Teriyaki Bento Box to give a good review but I rely on the truths of my husband and friends.  Two friends of mine have the had the Sex on the beach roll, the Lobster roll, the Philadelphia roll, the California roll, the Volacano roll, and one other one that cannot be pronounced but its fried. Apparently that one is AMAZING! The boys say the rolls are fresh and very well put together and the sushi chef is pretty funny. Nice guy.

The only negative that I can add to this review is the lack of air conditioning. I think the owners take it as a precaution as the restaurant isn't too busy at this time and may not want to waste the money. That is only a speculation on my part.  The Osaka Fusion House offers a 10% military discount as well as a 10% facebook discount (discounts cannot be combined and in order to get the discounts one has to provide military i.d. or a "like" status on the Osaka Fusion House fb page). Oh yeah, my friend Rob says the bathroom is below average. Haven't had the need to use it yet. I'll make sure to check it out myself the next time.

I think the Osaka Fusion House is totally worth a visit. Give it a chance and don't judge from the outside. Go in and enjoy it for what it is. Good food in an unpretentious environment for a great price.

I rate this restaurant an 8 out of 10.
